At 4:07 PM on August 6, units of the San Jose Fire Department and the Santa Clara County Fire Department responded to a fire in a two-story multi-unit townhouse complex in the area of 14562 South Bascom Ave. and Loretta Lane in Los Gatos, Cal.
While responding, personnel reported a large column of smoke. The first engine crew adivsed the first they had heavy fire extending from the first floor into the second floor and the attic.
Due to windy conditions, construction, and exposure difficulties mutual aid units were requested. The City of Santa Clara, Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety, and Saratoga Fire District responded.
Firefighters were able to prevent the fire from spreading into adjacent units by completing a trench cut on the roof .One firefighter received minor burns and was transported to a local hospital for treatment. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
