Los Angeles firefighters responded to a major emergency structure fire on Thursday, July 19. It happened at 15026 W. Oxnard Street in the Van Nuys area of Los Angeles. The initial 911 call report an auto fire near the rear of the structure. There, responding fire units found two autos fully involved.
A second call from an adjacent business reported seeing light smoke coming from a one story commercial building. The call was upgraded to a structure fire. Los Angeles Fire Department initiated a interior attack on the fire only to be driven back by the intense flames causing all personnel to evacuate the roof and transition to a "defensive attack.
It took 185 firefighters approximately 2 hours and 20 minutes before a knockdown was called. The cause has not yet been determined.
