At around 1:50am on Saturday April 7, 2007 calls to the Danvers, Massachusetts Fire Department began to flood in reporting a major fire at the new condo complex located on the former Danvers State Hospital. Upon arrival Danvers firefighters were faced with a massive fire that was burning in eight buildings that were under construction, with exposures to numerous other buildings on the complex.
A third and fourth alarms were needed for manpower and water supply, which brought multiple surrounding towns to the fire scene. Crews were able to contain the blaze to the original fire buildings and protected a section of occupied condos that residents had just moved into.
It was reported that six firefighters received minor burns due to the intense hear from the fire. The cause of the fire was under investigation by Danvers Fire and the Mass State Police.
