Camden City, New Jersey on November 9, 2006, at 3:28 am, a box was transmitted in the city. Squad 7, Engine 8, Ladder 3, Ladder 1, Rescue 1 and Battalion 1 were dispatched to the 1057 Langham Ave for a dwelling fire.
Battalion 1 arrived to find a 2 story middle of the row with heavy fire showing on the number 1 floor. Battalion 1 struck the all hands. Responding on the all hands box was Engine 1 and Battalion 2.
Engine 8 arrived as first due and went in service with a 2 1/2" handline. A special call was made to Ladder 2 to act as the fast team as both Ladders were being placed in service. At the 10 minute mark, Battalion 1 reported he had heavy fire on both floors striking the 2nd alarm.
Engine 9, Engine 6 and Car 3 were added on the 2nd alarm. Rescue 1 performed searches as the Ladder crews through ground ladders and opened up the roof. Battalion 1 ordered all crews to switch to defensive operation and went in service with multiple 2 1/2" handlines.
The original fire building was believed to be vacent with both exposures occupied. Witness told police and the Fire Marshals they saw an person throw a fire bomb into the house. The fire was placed under control around the 1 hour mark. No injuries were reported.
The fire is under investigation by the Camden City Fire Marshals.
