On Friday, April 23, at approx 11:45 AM, Essex County Fire and Rescue Service was called to a Bull Calf trapped in tunnel.
On arrival, crews found that this was a water filled culvert at the Junction of the A127 and M25 motorway.
To gain access to the site, crews had to negotiate a steep embankment leading to the culvert. Crew wearing breathing apparatus then entered the tunnel in search of the animal.
The rescue took almost 2 hours with crews working in very difficult conditions.
In attendance were 2X Brentwood (pumps) 1x Ingatstone (pump) and 1X Rescue Tender from Grays.
Crews, under the direction of a vet, sedated the animal that then had to be carried some 200m across rough terrain to awaiting transport.
This was a very difficult rescue in a confined space and carried out superbly by attending crews.
