On May 7, firefighters from the Louisville Fire Department, Harrods Creek Fire Department and Rhom & Haas fought to extinguish a fire on the Big Four Bridge that spans the Ohio River.
The old railroad bridge is currently being remodeled as a pedestrian walkway that would connect Jeffersonville, IN and Louisville, KY.
The fire caused river traffic to halt due to falling debris.
The construction manager believes that the fire could have been caused by the old navigation beacon lights on the bridge. Workers were replacing the lights at the time of the fire.
