A fire in a residential structure caused considerable damage to the building and displaced an elderly couple on April 30.

The residence, which was jammed full of combustibles, made interior firefighting initially impossible. A defensive attack was called for by the first arriving incident commander. Due to extremely extensive overhaul operations, lasting approximately five hours, manpower from 10 engines and one truck were utilized.

A total of 44 fire personnel assisted on scene, including three chief officers, an incident safety officer, two fire investigators, and the fire marshal. A civilian occupant of the residence was examined for minor smoke inhalation. A firefighter was transported to a local emergency room for a minor eye injury.
