During the afternoon of April 15th, Tucson Fire Department Engine Company 9 arrived on the scene of a fire involving two residential structures.
The wind-fed fire, which was believed to have originated between the residences in brush and debris, had spread to both structures and extended into the attics.
Wind speeds were in excess of 20 mile per hour at the time. Crews initially operated in the offensive strategy and had obtained "all clear" on the primary searches, but were forced to go defensive when the amount of fire in the attic made interior operations unsafe.
It took 40 firefighters 45 minutes before the blaze was declared under control.
There were no injuries reported and the cause of the fire is still under investigation. Damage is estimated at $ 250,000.
