Photo Story: Md. Firefighters Douse Large Trash Fire

Two Montgomery County Fire tower ladders were set up on opposite sides of the building as crews lobbed water on to the burning pile.

Montgomery County firefighters battled a stubborn trash pile fire in Rockville on May 16.

Fire crews were called to the trash recycling facility at Southlawn Lane and East Gude Drive at 7:23 p.m.

Firefighters from Station 703 (Rockville) encountered a fire in a large pile of paper and cardboard outside of the structure. 

Two tower ladders were set up on opposite sides of the building, along with several hoselines that were utilized by crews on the ground to lob water onto the burning pile. 

Crews remained on the scene for several hours to mop up.
