As Chicago firefighters opened the doors of their station on Sept. 27, they found see a column of smoke coming from the area where they were dispatched to a house fire.

As Chicago firefighters opened the doors of their station on Sept. 27, they found see a column of smoke coming from the area where they were dispatched to a house fire.

Engines 116 and 123, Truck 41, Tower Ladder 39 and Battalion 19 responded to to 5916 S. Paulina around 4:45 p.m.

The initial response was upgraded to a working fire response, consisting of Battalion 18, Truck 33, Ambulances 49 and 8, EMS 455 and Command Van 274.

Firefighters found heavy smoke coming from the front of the 1 1/2-story home. In the rear, heavy fire was visible and crews began knocking down the flames.

Fire investigators were requested to the scene and crews stayed on the scene for two hours.
