MIAMI --

Miami-Dade firefighters freed two men stuck at the top of a cherry picker that caught fire Friday afternoon.

Officials said two men were on a cherry picker at 21311 NW 34th Ave. when the machine hit a power line and the crane lifting the cherry picker caught fire.

Firefighters doused the flames, but the two men remained trapped.

From Sky 10 overhead, a Miami-Dade firefighter could be seen going up in a second cherry picker and bringing down the first man, then repeating the process to lower the second man.

Both men were being airlifted to Jackson Memorial Hospital.

Florida Power & Light said the fire knocked out power to about 1,600 customers in the area. Crews are working to restore the power.
