At least seven people are being treated for chemical burns today. Police say they were doused with acid during a street fight in the Bronx.

One witness, a registered nurse says she has never seen anything like it. The flesh-eating chemical was powerful. By the time things had settled down, more than half a dozen people were brought to Jacobi hospital.

A brawl outside Crotona Park turned into a hazardous-materials incident with police, firefighters and HAZMAT crews trying to help victims whose clothing and flesh were being eaten away.

Most of the injuries were minor but one woman was seriously burned. Witnesses say Belinda Simes had skin melting from her face.

The 18-year old was part of the crowd that had gathered to watch a fight on the edge of Crotona Park. Police believe Tamika Worley threw the container filled with the toxic substance.

Worley and another man, her roommate, are in custody charged with assault. Worley allegedly tried to douse a girl she was fighting but she waved the container in a long sweeping motion flinging acid everywhere.

Firefighters sprayed the victims at the scene to clear their skin.

Police still haven't identified the chemical which they initially thought was battery acid. Some victims say officials told them it was a mixture of Drano, bleach and hair-perming solution.
