Amtrak Derails in N.C.; Dozens Injured

Fire and rescue personnel are currently on the scene of an Amtrak derailment in Halifax County, N.C.

The engine was on its side and other cars were off the tracks after a collision with a truck, according to WRAL.

At least 40 passengers were transported to the hospital, while more than 170 others escaped injury.

The train left a Charlotte station and was headed to New York with several stops along the way.
