NY Firefighters Extricate Occupants after Car Struck Tree

A driver and two children needed to be extricated from their vehicle after striking a tree on the Taconic State Parkway in the Town of Gallatin.

Milan and Taghkanic firefighters responded Monday to an accident requiring extensive extrication on the Taconic State Parkway in the Town of Gallatin after a vehicle struck a tree, entrapping the driver and two children.

The accident happened Monday afternoon as the vehicle was travelling southbound before leaving the road and striking a large tree. The vehicle came to rest on the parkway, according to a Facebook post by the Milan Fire Department.

The driver had to be flown to an Albany hospital with multiple injuries. Two children in the vehicle who were properly secured in car seats were uninjured but transported for further examination.
