Fallen Tree Claims 1 Life, 2 Others Rescued by MD Firefighters

April 20, 2022
Severe weather caused an oak tree to fall into a home killing one occupant and injuring two others.

One family member is dead, and two others injured when storms toppled a massive oak tree into an Annapolis home.

When the tree fell into the home there were four people inside the dwelling. One person inside the house met crews outside in the pouring rain while the other three — a mother, father, and their child — remained trapped inside the home, WTOP reported.

The tree impacted in the bedroom killing the father. A child in the home sustained injuries that were not serious, and the mother was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries.

In a tweet, the Anne Arundel County Fire Department said, "AACOFD fire crews vigorously worked to rescue three occupants trapped by a fallen tree. Fire personnel were able to effectively rescue two occupants. Sadly, the third occupant was pronounced deceased on the scene."
