TX Woman Can't Recall Getting Stuck in Air Vent

Houston firefighters pulled the woman from a vent in a vacant home, but she wasn't able to tell her rescuers how she became trapped.

Firefighters pulled a woman from an air vent in a vacant north Houston home early Friday morning, fire officials said.

The woman told firefighters that she didn't remember how she got in the vent which appeared to be brand new, District Fire Chief Eric Hutzley said. She said she crawled in through the roof but got stuck in the vent inside the home.

"I've never seen anything like this," Hutzley said.

Firefighters first responded to a report of a "female stuck in a chimney" around 4 a.m. near Parker and Aldine Westfield. They couldn't immediately find the home, but a homeless man directed them to the property, saying he heard a woman crying in the chimney.

It took firefighters about 20 minutes to pull her from the vent. She was taken to a hospital for minor injuries to one of her legs.

She didn't appear to be under the influence of any drugs or alcohol at the time.
