New Orleans firefighters rescued two people following a home collapse Thursday.

Crews responded to the incident in the city's Irish Channel neighborhood shortly after 10:45 a.m., according to the department. Once they reached the scene, firefighters found the second story of a residential building under renovation partially collapsed and reports of three people trapped.

One person was rescued from a rear outside stairwell, and another person was pulled from inside the building, the department said. A third person who apparently had been in the building was no longer at the scene.

The person rescued from inside was taken to the hospital, and the extent of the individual's injuries wasn't known. The cause of the collapse is not known.
