Knox County Rural Metro firefighters rescued two workers after a trench collapsed Jan. 13, trapping them for several hours in Powell.
One worker was trapped up to his waist and the other buried 12 to15 feet, according to a Rural Metro Fire – Knox County Facebook post.
Multiple heavy rescue teams were called for mutual aid to assist with operations at the construction site.
Crews were able to extricate the first victim in four hours and the second was rescued in just under eight hours.
According to WBIR 10 News, one worker was treated and released and the other was being monitored for Compartment Syndrome.
