Worker Trapped on Ferris Wheel Rescued by Chesterfield, MO, Firefighters

The victim was helping dismantle the ride when he became trapped 45 feet in the air.

A carnival worker was rescued after being trapped on a Ferris wheel early Tuesday morning.

Monarch Fire Protection District Battalion Chief Dave Schmitt told KSDK the worker was helping dismantle the ride when a section collapsed and trapped him 45 feet in the air.

The rescue took about 45 minutes, with several firefighters going up to assist with the operation.

The 54-year-old worker, who was placed in a harness, before fireifhters lowered him to the ground. complained of a back injury.

He was transported to a hospital for evaluation.
