The Kansas City, MO, Fire Department rescued five people from an apartment fire Wednesday evening in the city’s Historic Northeast neighborhood, according to the fire department.
KMBC 9 reported that Kansas City firefighters were called about 7:40 p.m. to the three-story building at Lawn and Scarritt avenues.
When crews arrived on scene they could see smoke and fire coming from the building.
KCFD told FOX4 that five people were pulled out of the building.
Jason Spreitzer with KCFD said none of the five people rescued lived in the building and took off on foot after they were rescued.
The fire was reported to be under control just after 8 p.m.
No injuries were reported and most of the building was saved.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
Crews reported a working fire when they arrived at the scene.
