In a change from their regular recruit training, Seminole County firefighters took part in yoga training to help prepare their bodies and minds for the job ahead.
"Most of the poses we don't hold for a very long time, Lt. David Yates told WESH.com. "We're not here to convince them to join a yoga studio, although there's nothing wrong with that. I've been doing yoga myself for a very long time."
Yates said the firefighter recruits need to have a strong mind and body to do the job.
"Being a firefighter you have to be athletic, strong, but also have to be flexible because you get into tight situations, and you have to have the ability to overcome those obstacles," recruit Samari Yanik told the television station.
