YORK, Pa.
--
Three rowhomes were destroyed Tuesday morning in a York fire in the 600 block of Wallace Street (see interactive map below).
The blaze, which started around 8:45 a.m., went to four alarms and was under control around 10:30 a.m., according to York County 911.
Gloria Diaz said she looked away while she was cooking breakfast on her stove and when she looked back she saw flames and billowing smoke.
She ran out and helped her pregnant neighbor and her two girls escape.
The cause of the fire has been ruled unattended cooking.
More than 100 firefighters battled the blaze, working 45-minute shifts. The chief pulled firefighters out twice due to the conditions.
The American Red Cross had to order more bottled water and went through six gases of Gatorade. A nearby bar provided ice.
No injuries were reported.
The Red Cross is helping three families.
