Two Indianapolis firefighters and an EMT were injured Wednesday night when a car careened into a crash scene.
The two firefighters, leaning under the hood of the car trying to disconnect the battery, were thrown upon impact, while an EMT in the wrecked vehicle also was hurt. IEMS EMT Clayton Moorekneeling, kneeling with a patient was not hurt, the Indy channel reported.
The driver of the vehicle that hit the responders, Kaitlyn M. Carlson, 23, was charged with driving while intoxicated.
Brian Hedrick, a 15 year IFD veteran, was in good condition and was expected to stay at the hospital overnight for observation.
Firefighter Corey VanWyk, who graduated from the IFD Recruit Academy last month, was treated and released.
