Maine Fire Capt. Falls Ill, Dies in Station

Firefighters in a Maine department are mourning the loss of their captain.

East Millinocket Fire Capt. Peter Larlee, 57, collapsed in the station's bay while working on an ambulance.

Larlee had been on an EMS call shortly before the incident.

He was fixing a mud flap on an ambulance, and was on the floor when he fell ill. Fellow responders rendered aid, but were unable to revive him.

Funeral arrangements are pending.

He is the 12th firefighter to die on duty so far this year.
