MN Captain Succumbs to COVID-19

Upsala Fire Capt. Brian Lange succumbed to COVID on Dec. 11 after obtaining the illness in the line-of-duty.

An Upsala fire captain died on Dec. 11, after contracting COVID-19 while on duty.

The passing of Brian Lange, 55, marks the first firefighter in Minnesota to die of COVID.

“[He was] very hardworking,” Upsala Fire Chief Jay Baggenstoss told WCCO-TV“Very dedicated to his family and his community, and an all-around fun guy to be around. He made the job fun.”

Lange served with the Upsala Fire Department for 23 years and sat on the council board for the city.

He leaves behind a wife and two children.
