An Upsala fire captain died on Dec. 11, after contracting COVID-19 while on duty.
The passing of Brian Lange, 55, marks the first firefighter in Minnesota to die of COVID.
“[He was] very hardworking,” Upsala Fire Chief Jay Baggenstoss told WCCO-TV, “Very dedicated to his family and his community, and an all-around fun guy to be around. He made the job fun.”
Lange served with the Upsala Fire Department for 23 years and sat on the council board for the city.
