OH Firefighter Remembered for Passion for Training, Love of Job

"John (Fritz) didn't just have one family, he had many," said Austintown Chief Andy Frost.

Hundreds of firefighters from Ohio were joined Saturday to honor a brother found dead in his fire station.

Austintown Firefighter John Fritz, 48, was remembered for his love of his family, training and his job, reporters from WKBN reported. 

 “John [Fritz] didn’t just have one family, he had many families. By far his most precious were Karen, the girls, his parents, Austintown Fire Chief Andy Frost told those gathered.

Fellow Firefighter Fred Marcum said of his friend: “He always had some quirky antics or sayings. He loved to train and put in work, and loved to make some really off-the-wall tools. Some of which we use, some which we have yet to use..."

Fritz, a firefighter for more than 26 years, also liked archery, shooting and scuba diving, and was a black-belt in karate, the station noted.
