PA Firefighter Widows Prep for Possible Lawsuit

April 12, 2018
The widows of two York City firefighters killed on March 22 have filed paperwork which could lead to a lawsuit against a city contractor.

The widows of two Pennsylvania firefighters who were killed in a collapse last month have taken the first steps in a possible lawsuit against a city contractor.

The York Daily Record reports that the widows of York City firefighters Ivan Flanscha and Zachary Anthony have initiated legal action against C.S. Davidson Inc., which the city contracts with for engineering services.

Casey Flanscha and Allison Hoffman each filed court documents Tuesday in the York County Court of Common Pleas.

Although the documents do not make any allegations, they allow the two women to collect information about what happened on the day of the incident. Attorneys for the widows could not be reached for comment, so the specific reason for the action is unknown.

Flanscha, 50, and Anthony, 29, were on the fourth floor of the old Weaver Organ & Piano Co. factory on March 22 putting out hot spots after a fire there the day before when the structure collapsed and killed them. Firefighter Erik Swanson was injured in the incident.

Developers had been converting the old manufacturing facility into 42 modern apartments.
