Nine FDNY firefighters and two civilians were hurt in a suspicious fire in a Queens apartment fire early Monday morning.

According to television station WABC said the hurt firefighters were tank to Cornell Medical Center with what was described as minor injuries.

The fire on 41ST Avenue in Flushing, Queen was reported at just before 2:15 am

The two civilians hurt the fire were also taken to the same hospital with burns, the station reported. The civilians were apparently squatters in the vacant building, WABC reported.

Debris piles, as high as three to four feet deep throughout the building hampered firefighters’ ability to battle the blaze, the TV station reported.

Evaluations are underway to an adjacent building that was also hit by the flames from the original building, the station reported.

The cause of the fire is under investigation although fire officials are calling it suspicious.
