Two firefighters and two paramedics were injured early Saturday in an ambulance crash while transporting a shooting victim to a Cleveland hospital.

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Two firefighters and two paramedics were injured in an early Saturday morning crash trying to drive a shooting victim to the hospital, police say.

The crash happened about 12:15 a.m., at the intersection of East 152nd Street and Woodworth Avenue, Cleveland police spokeswoman Sgt. Jennifer Ciaccia said. The 20-year-man being taken to the hospital was shot at East 152nd Street and Lakeshore Boulevard, about two miles north from the crash site.

A firefighter drove the ambulance while another firefighter and two paramedics were in the back of the ambulance as the man’s condition was critical, police said.

A woman driving a 2016 Kia Sorento was driving west on Woodworth Avenue when she struck the ambulance, which was heading south on East 152nd with its emergency lights on, police said.

She struck the left rear part of the ambulance. The ambulance rotated, almost flipped over and struck a 2011 Honda CR-V that was stopped at the intersection, police said.

The ambulance went off the side of the road and struck a utility pole.

The crash is under investigation. Police did not release the current conditions of everyone involved.
