A Michigan firefighter and a civilian were injured in a dog attack Thursday.
The incident happened as Madison Heights firefighters and police were called to a home because of an aggressive dog that had attacked its owner, WDIX-TV reports. Once at the scene, a firefighter entered the house to help the owner with the canine.
“They found the mom in one of the back rooms holding the dog down to the ground,” said Madison Heights Police Chief Corey Haines told WDIX. “The firefighter attempted to help her in keeping the dog on the ground and the dog turned and attacked our firefighter very badly.”
The firefighter was taken to the hospital with serious injuries to his arm. The dog was placed in a shelter by Animal Control officials.
