A Youngstown firefighter was badly burned during a structure fire on Dec. 1, requiring grafts to repair his damaged skin.
Firefighters were pulling ceiling in a home to expose the fire above them when firefighter Brian Charles suffered burn injuries.
“It only took me down, so I hit the floor and right then — this has never happened — it just felt like my legs were on fire so I was scrambling to get everything off me," Charles told WKBN 27. "I was crawling out. My guys helped me get out and luckily I was the only one that got hurt.”
Charles is currently at the Akron Burn Center getting grafts to his lower leg areas.
