Jan. 27, 2022
An Exeter Fire Department tower ladder was involved in an accident while responding on a mutual aid fire call.

An Exeter Township Fire Department truck responding to an incident in a neighboring municipality collided with another vehicle on Route 422 in the township, officials said.

The crash happened at 6:04 a.m. Thursday in the 5000 block of Perkiomen Avenue, which is Business Route 422.

According to a new release from the fire department:

The department unit, Tower 25, a 1995 Seagrave Aerialscope ladder truck, responding from the Reiffton station, was eastbound to Amity Township to provide mutual aid to another department when it collided with a passenger vehicle.

No firefighters were injured, but two occupants of the other vehicle were transported by ambulance to a hospital for unspecified injuries.

According to Berks County emergency dispatchers, the truck was responding to an automatic fire alarm 208 Berkshire Drive. Further information about that alarm was unavailable.

"The department is cooperating fully with the Exeter Township Police Department as they investigate the accident," the release stated.
