Seriously Burned PA FF is Making Progress

Middletown Volunteer FD firefighter Sean Menear, who was severely burned in a collapse, is making significant progress toward healing.

Middletown Volunteer Fire Department firefighter Shawn Menear will undergo at least one more operation and is making progress after being severely burned at a fire when the building collapse trapping him last month.

Menear has made great progress while recovering from severe burn injuries impacting a majority of his lower body, the department said.

The amount of support presented throughout his in-patient stay has helped him immensely, the Middletown Volunteer Fire Department said in a Facebook post.

Firefighter Menear suffered his serious injuries on Jan. 23 at a fatal fire in Royalton.

While operating at the fire, Menear became trapped as the second floor collapsed, and trapped him under debris until RIT crews could extract him.

A GoFundMe account was created to help Menear and his family with his recovery.
