An Arkansas fire chief collapsed and died last month while on a detail with his department.
During a drill on Oct. 27, Calvert Fire Chief Everette Watson, 58, left his firehouse to pick up supplies for a new engine at another station, according to the U.S. Fire Administration.
While at the second firehouse, he suffered a medical emergency. Although life-saving measures were initiated immediately, they were not successful.
The 33-year fire service veteran died of an apparent heart attack, the USFA reported.
Funeral services were held last week.
He is the 88th firefighter to die on duty this year.
