MS Firefighter Struck, Killed at Crash Scene

Sanford and Seminary firefighter Phillip Allan was struck when he came upon an accident scene in Covington County.

A firefighter who served with the Sanford and Seminary volunteer fire departments was struck and killed while assisting at a crash scene Wednesday afternoon.

Phillip Allan stopped to help when he was struck, the Seminary Police Department shared in a statement. 

The Mississippi Highway Patrol responded to the single-vehicle crash around 3 p.m. on U.S. 49 in Covington County, according to WLBT.com.

Officials say Allan drove up on the wreck and stopped to assist when he was struck.

He was taken to Forrest General Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

Officials are investigating the incident said the driver who struck Allan stayed at the scene.
