Large Fallen Tree Branch Injures Wichita, KS, Firefighter, Medic

A firefighter and paramedic in Wichita were injured providing medical assistance to a worker who had fallen from a tree.

A firefighter and paramedic were injured by a fallen tree branch while treating a patient in Wichita.

Squad 11 was dispatched Sunday evening and found a worker injured who had fallen from a tree, the department shared.

As the crew was treating the patient, a large tree branch fell.

A firefighter was able to pull a paramedic student to safety while another firefighter shielded the patient.

The firefighter was struck, while the patient was protected. 

Fire officials said the branch was about 150 pounds and fell nearly 25 feet onto the first responders.

Both the firefighter and paramedic were transported to the hospital with injuries. Their condition was not released.
