Chicago Battalion Chief Dies after Shift at Fire Department

A 30-year veteran of the Chicago Fire Department, Sean Kevin, 53, was promoted to battalion chief in 2023.

The Chicago Fire Department is mourning the loss of a veteran firefighter.

Battalion Chief Sean Kevin, 53, died Sept. 8 after returning home after his shift, according to a statement from the Chicago Fire Department. 

Kevin rose through the ranks during his 30 years with the department, and was promoted to battalion chief if 2023.

Funeral arrangements are pending.
