A North Carolina fire department is asking area residents for help finding a firefighter's lost helmet.
Greensboro firefighter Zander Gainey discovered the helmet was missing June 22, according to the city's firefighters union, which went online to request help from the public. The helmet likely fell off an apparatus somewhere between the department's training center on Church Street and Station 20 after Gainey participated in training sessions.
"I'm kinda past the point of hoping that it comes back in one piece," Gainey, who has been with the department for five years, told WFMY-TV. "That would be awesome if it came back in one piece. But if it came back in 10 pieces or 100 pieces, that's still sentimental value I have with the helmet."
Anyone with information about the helmet should contact the Professional Fire Fighters of Greensboro, Local 947, through the union's Facebook page.
