AZ Department Mourning Firefighter's Cancer Death

The Tempe Fire Department is in mourning after firefighter Tommy Arriaga, a husband and father of two, lost his year-long battle with job-related cancer just one day after his 36th birthday.

"He demonstrated immense pride in serving the citizens of Tempe and all surrounding communities," Fire Chief Greg Ruiz said of Arriaga, choking back tears. "I know because I hired him."
