A Minnesota firefighter is donating a kidney to a colleague in need of one.
Elk River firefighter Chad Kreuser, a third-generation firefighter, suffers from polycystic kidney and needs a lifesaving transplant, WCCO-TV reports. When fellow firefighter Ryan Wolcenski heard about this, he volunteered to be tested to see if he was a match.
“I didn’t, didn’t even hesitate,” he told WCCO.
When Wolcenski found that he was a match, he was humbled to be able "to make the sacrifice" for Kreuser so that his friend and colleague can watch his daughters grow up. The transplant surgery is set for June 23.
“I feel the best way to thank him is going forward to live the best life I can," Kreuser told WCCO.
