KY FF Set to Donate Kidney to Sister-in-Law

Owensboro Firefighter Tyler Grant is happy to give her a new chance at life.

An Owensboro firefighter helps others while he's on duty.

Now, that will extend to a life-saving gesture when he's not on the clock.

In January, Firefighter Tyler Grant will be giving a kidney to his sister-in-law,  Jessy Bennett, WEHT reported.

She started experiencing kidney failure after her first child was born eight years ago. Over time, her condition has woresened.

Grant was one of those tested after it became apparent that a transplant was needed.

“She is an amazing person herself,” Grant said. “Looking at her kids, I was like ‘her kids are the same age as mine,’ and I couldn’t imagine if that was my wife.”

Bennett is overwhelmed. "I'm very grateful to my brother-in-law for this because it really is going to be a new chance at life."
