Nov. 8, 2022
Firefighter Benjamin J. Polson,32, was killed in January when the roof of a house collapsed on him.

A portion of a street in south St. Louis County now bears the name of a fallen hero.

The road along Resurrection Cemetery in Affton is now known as Firefighter Benjamin J. Polson Memorial Highway.

Polson, 32, was killed in January when the roof and top story of a house collapsed on him as he tried to escape.

St. Louis Chief Dennis Jenkerson told Fox 2 that when people drive by this memorial it will be a reminder of the sacrifices that firefighters like Polson make every day to serve the community.

His mother said not only is the sign near her son's final resting place, he also worked at a nearby carwash as a teen.
