The son of FDNY Firefighter Billy Moon sobbed after listening to his dad's heart beating in the chest of another man.

Moon died in December 2022 after falling 20 feet during a training exercise in Rescue 2's Brooklyn firehouse.

As he was an organ donor, Moon's wife, Kristina, had him transferred to LiveOnNY’s Donor Care Unit at NYU Langone Health. Five of his organs were transplanted into recipients,  WPIX11 reported.

Hearing his dad's heart beating in Richard Grehl, 63, was overwhelming for Colin Moon, 9.

“It feels like when I would take naps right next to my dad. And it feels like I was right next to him.  Because when I was doing it, I heard his heart beat,” he said.

Meeting the Moon family Thursday night, Grehl said: “I’m Rich, in more ways than one, thank you so much..."

He also was emotional as Moon's family, including his mother, took turns using a stethoscope to listen.

“He was passionate. The passion comes from the heart, so to hear that heart is still beating is very emotional,” Kristina said.
