After Deadly Blast, Loudoun County, VA, Fire Marshal Restricts Gas Supplier

March 14, 2024
Southern States delivered the propane to the house where Sterling Firefighter Trevor Brown was killed last month.

As the probe of the house explosion last month that killed a Sterling firefighter continues, the company that supplied the gas to the house has been ordered to halt making deliveries by the Loudoun County Fire Rescue Fire Marshal.

Southern States delivered the propane to the 500-gallon underground tank in Sterling that leaked into the house and surrounding area. What triggered the explosion that killed Sterling Firefighter Trevor Brown remains under investigation.

"The Fire Marshal has imposed restrictions on all branches of Southern States that deliver/transfer propane within Loudoun County, Virginia, and the incorporated towns within the county," according to a fire department statement.

Until the company's fire code-related information is upgraded and brought into compliance, residents may experience interruptions in their propane delivery service.
