Boston Opens First New Firehouse In More Than 30 Years

The $23.5 million fire station, home to Engine 42 and Rescue 2, is the first new station to be built in Boston in 30 years.

The Boston Fire Departments opened their first new station in 30 years this past fall.

The $23.5 million station replaces a 69-year-old station and is home to Engine 42, Rescue 2 and District Chief 9.

Built-in training spaces, a decontamination area and a state-of-the-art gym are some of the notable features in the station, according to CBS Boston.
