Fire Dept. Drone Helps PA Police Catch Criminal

June 28, 2022
The Western Berks Fire Department was summoned with their drone to capture a man who threatened coworkers with a knife before fleeing into the woods.

The Western Berks Fire Department helped a local police department track down a man who fled after threatening co-workers with knife and telling them he would kill any police that approached him.

Benny Carver left a correction center Saturday and then went to the South Heidelberg where he worked before threatening lives.

He fled into the woods and that when police called for the fire department drone to assist in finding him in a wooded area, WFMZ.com reported.

"We are able to zoom in, see what the person's wearing to match it up with the police report," Fire Commissioner Jared Renshaw told the television station.  "Whenever they went into a thicker brush, a thicker wood line, they were able to turn it over to the thermal camera."

As police got close, the man lunged at the officers and they deployed a taser to arrest him.
