Winchester, KY, Gets 100-Foot Platform Aerial

    The Winchester FD purchased its first platform aerial, a 100-foot rear-mount unit, from Smeal Fire Apparatus.

    The Winchester, KY, Fire Department purchased its first platform aerial, a 100-foot rear-mount unit, from Smeal Fire Apparatus. It replaces a 1984 tractor-drawn tiller. The new aerial is built on a Spartan cab and chassis and is powered by a Cummins ISX 600-hp engine and an Allison 4000EVS transmission. It has a 2,000-gpm pump, a 300-gallon tank It also has a 10,000-watt generator. The apparatus runs out of Station 3.
