A Minnesota fire apparatus sustained significant damage during a grass fire Monday after a pickup truck collided head-on into it and drove off without stop, almost striking another rig.

Erskine firefighters were part of the response for a grass fire near mentor, the Crookston Times reports. Heavy smoke from the fire caused poor visibility in the area.

Shortly before 5:30 p.m., a pickup truck slammed into the Erskine Fire Department's apparatus head-on. The driver then continued on from the scene and nearly struck another apparatus.

The accident caused significant damage to the front of the apparatus, putting it out of service, according to the Times. The pickup truck, which eventually was stopped by authorities, also had extensive damage.

No one was injured in the collision. The incident is under investigation.
