As the driver emerged from a stolen ambulance with his hands up, it was abundantly clear that he wasn't armed -- because he was naked.

Wisconsin Rapids medics had just loaded a patent into the back of the ambulance when the suspect, Benjamin Feltz, 37, of Nekoosa, jumped behind the wheel. The crew jumped out.

The ambulance -- with its emergency lights flashing -- led police on a chase over dirt roads and swerving around stop sticks. Speeds were over 70 mph during the 20 minute pursuit, WISN reported, adding that a flat tire ended it.

Using a drone, officers pointed a variety of weapons as they approached the vehicle.

"Come out of the ambulance! This is the Wood County Sheriff's Department. Come out with your hands in the air and surrender. You are surrounded," officers called out.

Seconds later, the nude man obeyed demands to put his hands up. He was taken into custody.

The patient was transported to a hospital by another ambulance.

Feltz is facing numerous charges including third offense driving while intoxicated.

There was no explanation about his lack of clothing.
