A group called the "North Summit Volunteer Responders" issued a statement after it was said the firefighters walked out on the department.

A statement was issued by a group called the "North Summit Volunteer Responders" after it was said the firefighters walked out on the department.

The group cited the lack of leadership, the removal of a medical director and overall lack of support from the fire board for the suspension, according to KSLTV.com.

“Some members of the Board have refused to provide the volunteer North Summit Firefighters with the leadership and support they need to do our work safely and effectively," the statement read.

Earlier this week, the fire board contracted with Park City Fire District to provide services, saying the firefighters walked away from the department.

The volunteer responder group responded to those accusations, stating "There is not now, nor ever has there been any boycott."
